Raul DiBlasioOn February 7th, Raúl DiBlasio appeared at CNN en Español's program "Cala" where he was interviewed by Ismael Cala in Miami where he was celebrating his 20-year career performing two concerts there.

DiBlasio shared several anecdotes about his concerts, his family, his beginnings and his hobbies.

Here are some insights shared at the interview:

When DiBlasio was learning playing piano, his father would come after a hard's day work and ask him to play a song for him. Since the boy didn't know the song, his father would whistle the song and DiBlasio would perform it on the piano, which would became a technique he uses to remember some songs.

He was studying classical piano in Buenos Aires, and then went to Chile where he finally ended up in the hotel where the artists that performed at the Viña del Mar Festival stayed, so he played for them, and he told them that one day he would make a recording with them.

One day Bebu Silvetti told him that he was ready to record his own arrangements.

He was invited by Suzanne Mubarak to perform a concert and she told him that his husband would appear but just for a few minutes, which is what he always does, but instead he stayed more than an hour while DiBlasio was playing.

Queen Rania also invited him for a concert for one her charities and while he was playing there, a man approached him and told him that if he played "La Paloma" he would sign a check for $100,000, and so he did while DiBlasio was playing.

DiBlasio has two sons, and the oldest one is studying at the Conservatory and he helps him with the orchestral arrangements.

One of DiBlasio's passions is to fly and he flies but always with an instructor present.

At the end of the interview, Cala asked him to return and play on the piano for Mother's Day which DiBlasio graciously accepted.

Enjoy!
Fernando
